By calling our drug addiction helpline, you can expect to speak with someone who understands your addiction and is committed to getting you the best treatment. You continue to use drugs, despite knowing it’s hurting you. It’s causing major problems in your life—blackouts, financial issues, infections, mood swings, depression, paranoia—but you use anyway. You may even reach a point when you need to tell your addict child they are not allowed or welcome in your home any longer. How can I stop using drugs and how can I find a cure so that I return to as I was before I used drugs?
For individuals addicted to prescription drugs, treatments tend to be similar to those who are addicted to drugs affecting the same brain systems. Most people believe that, the drug userscan just quit their drug abuse any time. On offer at these facilities are all recovery services, including detox, experimental therapies, dual diagnosis, and transitional living. Both drugs may be used as maintenance medications (taken for an indefinite period of time), or used as detoxification aids.[9] All available studies collected in the 2005 Australian National Evaluation of Pharmacotherapies for Opioid Dependence suggest that maintenance treatment is preferable,[9] with very high rates (79–100%)[9] of relapse within three months of detoxification from LAAM, buprenorphine, and methadone.[9][10] According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), patients stabilized on adequate, sustained doses of methadone or buprenorphine can keep their jobs, avoid crime and violence, and reduce their exposure to HIV and Hepatitis C by stopping or reducing injection drug use and drug-related high risk sexual behavior.
Detoxification (detox): To start the rehabilitation process, detoxification is often necessary to rid the body of any harmful drugs. If this individual is able to employ successful coping strategies, such as distracting himself from his cravings by turning on his favorite music, then he will avoid the relapse risk (PATH 1) and heighten his efficacy for future abstinence. Most treatment centers base their statistics on the people who complete the program and are drug and alcohol-free. The pervasiveness of drug addiction stems from several factors, including alterations in brain chemistry caused by prescription and street drugs alike, increasing availability of drugs and untreated emotional or psychological conditions that lead to drug experimentation. Every family member is encouraged to be involved as they can be to facilitate the healing not only of their loved one in treatment, but of themselves.
This will make it easier to work out visits into your schedule. Have you started to neglect responsibilities and lost interest in the things you used to enjoy? Some of the obstacles that we uncover in our journey to recovery from drugs, alcohol or other addictive behaviors can take all of our energy, as well as the help we need from our Lord Jesus Christ. Even after treatment, recovering addicts continue to use prayer and belief in God to get them through whatever comes their way. Also whenever addicts or anybody harbors unforgiveness towards others who have done them wrong it keeps them in an unhealthy state and without true freedom until we forgive others who have harmed us. What did you want to become or accomplish before drugs started stealing your life away? And having been around since 1967, it is no wonder as to why they are so successful. Our certified addiction counselors understand the value of living Christ-centered lives, and we help our clients to find freedom from addiction through prayer, scripture, church, and worship services.
